Cobble weaves plan B as textiles hits slump - bid to branch out as industry decline threatens future business

AMTRI Cobble, which opened its offices in May, will design and engineer a range of manufacturing machinery for all manner of clients. AMTRI Cobble appointment

John Pearce has joined newly established machinery builder AMTRI Cobble as sales manager. The company is already working on several project proposals and John’s initial task will be to raise awareness of AMTRI Cobble and the solutions it offers amongst leading manufacturers. John has an MSc in engineering and management from Cranfield and has held senior manufacturing, marketing and technical positions in industry. He has also run his own business building special purpose machinery and most recently, a consultancy that advised international companies on the introduction of advanced technology.

Taking up the manufacturing challenge

At a time when many manufacturers are moving abroad, a new business has emerged to tap into Britain’s engineering talent. AMTRI Cobble is a new venture backed by Cobble, the Blackburn manufacturer of capital equipment. It will develop specialised machinery, which will be designed and built in Britain for customers across industry. It will operate as a separate division within the Cobble Group and use the Blackburn factory’s manufacturing facilities.
